SUBJECT MATTER of Commandment #3
The taking of God's name "in vain" involves basically "HYPOCRISY". For example, claiming to be a Christian, a "Follower of The Way", or a worshiper of Yahweh, but then not acting in accord with the spirit and terms of that title. Those terms mainly require keeping the Ten Commandments and Seven Annual Holyday Statutes. This is the foremost intent of the Third Commandment: Do not associate God's Name with behavior and customs that misrepresents His Character, Principles and Nature.
The articles below address the "blasphemy" aspect of the Third Commandment.

Lev 24:10-16
"10 Now the son of an Israelite woman, whose father * was an Egyptian, went out among the sons of Israel; and the Israelite woman's son and a man of Israel struggled with each other in the camp. 11 The son of the Israelite woman blasphemed the Name and cursed. So they brought him to Moses. (Now his mother's name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.) 12 They put him in custody so that the command of the LORD might be made clear to them. 13 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 14 "Bring the one who has cursed outside * * the camp, and let all who heard him lay their hands on his head; then let all the congregation stone him. 15 "You shall speak to the sons of Israel, saying, 'If anyone curses his God, then he will bear his sin. 16 'Moreover, the one who blasphemes the name of the LORD shall surely be put to death; all the congregation shall certainly stone him. The alien as well as the native, when he blasphemes the Name, shall be put to death."
Ex 22:28
Mt 12:31
Rev 13:1-6
Rev 16:9,11,21
"9 Men were scorched with fierce heat; and they blasphemed the name of God who has the power over these plagues, and they did not repent so as to give Him glory.
11 and they blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores; and they did not repent of their deeds.
21 And huge hailstones, about one hundred pounds each, came down from heaven upon men; and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, because its plague was extremely severe."
Ex 20:7
You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.
